POSITION:                               Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

Spartanburg School District One where our mission is to provide a quality, student-centered education seeks the best candidate to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.  The successful candidate should be able to fulfill the responsibilities listed below effectively while displaying the utmost professionalism as the lead of curriculum and instruction for the district.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates Curriculum Team, and specific projects, and hosts department meeting
  • Prepares the Instructional Report to the Board 
  • Supervises Directors of Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary and CATE Programs
  • Supervises Director of Assessment and Applications
  • Executes state department memos and initiatives 
  • Helps with planning state early childhood programs for Spartanburg County 
  • Works with partners on grants and special initiatives
  • Executes Read to Succeed compliances and ensures Tier 1 and Tier 2 ACT 284 mandates
  • Attends Spartanburg County Curriculum and Instruction (C and I) Meetings
  • Attends State Roundtables (ex.: Instructional, Elementary, and Early Childhood)
  • Determines elementary PLOs to take part in by the state (ex.: MTSS)
  • Shares meeting information with Curriculum Team/Departments, as applicable
  • Executes Distinguished Reading Teachers of the Year process
  • Upholds all Title Two Director responsibilities
  • Attends all meetings required by State Title One Directors
  • Attend all Title One conferences, when applicable
  • Meets and communicates monthly deadlines to Title schools
  • Prepares for audits and maintains Crate and deadlines
  • Determines Title Two expenditures for professional development 
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Valid South Carolina Certification in Administration 

2.  Prior experience in administration;

3.  Proven skills in leadership, vision, communication, and data-driven

     instruction;

4.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may

     find appropriate and acceptable.

 

CONTRACT:                 240 Days
